The
smallest of the batch production systems to be made available, the 20
litre ( approximately 100 kg per hour) HSM incorporates a number of
features developed whilst using the laboratory machines, such as:
simple, compact and robust design
new high performance machine geometry
computerised control and monitoring during the cycle
self discharging
fully integratable into product line.
Economic modelling
and trials of the 20 litre system indicate that it is particularly suited to
the in-house or service processing of high value materials The
medium to low average
processing costs at this scale ensure good economic margins, even for relatively low value
materials and the cleanability of the machine improves its batch to batch
flexibility.
Given the high
material performance retained after HSM processing, materials are often
suited for return to their original compound and application. This increases
the need for cleanliness and process control. The HSM
system enables batch to batch monitoring of materials and processing
conditions.
In general, the higher the specification required, the lower
the throughput rates of the line up to the limits set by the performance of the feedstock.
This system
has been successfully tested on a wide range of polymers - underlining the
flexibility and versatility of the technology.
